Fez in 2012 will have its film festival.
Faouzi Skalli and the Spirit of Fes Foundation wish to organize the first Festival of Politics Film Fes.
"We do not need an alibi program, this festival we are creating to establish a genuine reflection" by F. Skalli who thinks that this topic would make all the originality of this new festival from the many film festivals held in Morocco. This will also allow rooms formerly Fez "prestigious", now closed for the majority of them, to rise from the ashes.
Countrywide cinemas are closing one after another or degrade slowly. Fez is no exception to this trend. The medina has more room in operation and about the new town the last two movies from downtown, the Empire and Rex, are much more popular and could do with an "upgrade"!
Generally speaking culture is sorely lacking in this spiritual capital. No
library worthy of the name, cinemas endangered, a theater in episodic programming, no real literary cafes, and very rare events (usually reserved for the elite) make the cultural offer can be summed up in the Festival of Sufi culture and to that of Sacred Music .... Two weeks a year (April / June) during which shone Fez!

Fez is full of artisans who are true artists and through them the Medina is a huge art gallery.
